QUESTION

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa bin Pengiran Haji Aliuddin

YANG BERHORMAT PENGIRAN HAJI ISA BIN PENGIRAN HAJI ALIUDDIN asks Menteri Sumber-Sumber Utama dan Pelancongan to state what efforts the government is making to ensure that local traders and entrepreneurs in the food and beverage, agriculture, and agrifood sectors can expand their products to the global level, given that many quality products are already in the local market, while also looking at the success of other countries that subsidise their companies for that purpose?

ANSWER

Yang Berhormat Menteri Sumber-Sumber Utama dan Pelancongan

Yang Berhormat Pengerusi, allow kaola to answer the question from Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Isa.

At present, the Ministry has no policy plan to provide subsidies to companies that have exported agricultural products abroad such as to Singapore and Malaysia. This Ministry is indeed actively carrying out market access efforts in collaboration with BEDB, and BEDB provides facilitation assistance for companies to export abroad subject to the criteria set by BEDB.

This Ministry also encourages the exploration of export markets in order to ensure business growth opportunities and GDP growth through initiatives implementing cooperation and information gathering with various private and government agencies, the provision of a G to G platform, namely consultation between the competent authority of this country and the competent authority of the importing country to facilitate negotiations and the export of agricultural products to destination countries.

Program for Domestic and Export Market Facilitation

The Market Access Platform Bruneian Made is targeted as a sales platform beginning at the main Bruneian Made outlet and, if it has high sales, will be expanded to Bruneian Made outlets or kiosks in local supermarkets. This Bruneian Made platform is also a preparation for local food products to penetrate the export market under BEDB's Export Facilitation Program.
