ANSWER:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Yang Berhormat Pehin Yang Di-Pertua and Your Honourable Members,
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, good morning and greetings of peace.
First of all, kaola would like to express the highest appreciation and thanks to Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua for the opportunity given for kaola to answer the oral question PL157 posed by Awang Amran bin Haji Maidin regarding the membership requirements of the Parent-Teacher Association and the extent to which the Parent-Teacher Association's contribution can contribute to the advancement of school education.
Regarding membership appointments, the Education Act Chapter 210, Regulation 3(2) stipulates that membership of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) consists of parents or guardians of the students and teachers at the respective school. However, the regulations in force also allow the appointment of up to two (2) non-member individuals into the PIBG committee, subject to the consideration and approval of the Chief Registrar as provided under Regulations 5(4) to 5(6), as long as the appointment is in line with the objectives and purpose of the establishment of PIBG.
In terms of contribution, PIBG plays a very important role in supporting the advancement of education at the school level. Among the main contributions of PIBG include collaborating with the school in planning, organizing and implementing academic, community, religious, physical, and sports activities. In addition, PIBG also implements welfare programs and is involved in providing contributions and assistance to students from underprivileged families and the school.
