YANG BERHORMAT AWANG HAJI DAUD BIN JIHAN asks the MENTERI HAL EHWAL DALAM NEGERI to state when the Multipurpose Hall at the Municipal Department Workshop in the Kampong Belimbing area can be fully used again for village and sports activities as usual. This is considering that this hall has not yet been usable due to certain reasons.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Yang Di-Pertua and Your Honourable Members blessed by Allah, whom peramba/Kaola/I respect,

  1. The Multipurpose Hall at the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Department Workshop in Kampung Subok had previously been among the facilities frequently utilised by Department personnel and the local community for holding sports activities and social events such as wedding ceremonies. However, the use of this hall has been closed since early 2024 on safety grounds and also to enable phased repairs to be carried out.

  2. In this regard, I am pleased to inform that village residents may still make use of school hall facilities under the control of the Ministry of Education in their respective villages or nearby villages for official activities such as Mukim and Kampung Consultative Council meetings. However, for sports activities, this is subject to the permission of the relevant ministry, with rental charges imposed according to the prescribed rates. In this matter, if the hall is required for official school purposes, such as examinations and other educational programmes, then priority will first be given to the needs of the school.
