RESPONSE:

Thank you, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua,

Thank you for question PL265 by Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chin Yee. For the information of Your Honourable Member, the question regarding the mechanism of simple interest charges or compensation to address the situation where government payments to suppliers are delayed is related to question PL280 raised on 4 August 2025 and was raised during the First Legislative Council Session of the 21st Meeting season, in the year 2025 with its response on 10 March 2025.

Therefore, for the information of Your Honourable Members, generally, the compensation mechanism mentioned is indeed included in any contract or claim invoice between the Government and the supplier and must be agreed upon by both parties either at the time the contract is signed or upon acceptance of the offer.

Thank you, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua.
