ANSWER:

  • Thank you, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua. Thank you also to Yang Berhormat Awang Lau How Teck for the question posed.

  • In response to Yang Berhormat's question, the Ministry of Development through the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) carries out continuous maintenance to ensure that recreational parks remain preserved, safe, and user-friendly for recreation and family relaxation in line with the needs of a healthy lifestyle.

  • The continuous maintenance of these facilities is carried out at all 18 recreational parks that are under the supervision and administrative responsibility of JASTRe. This maintenance is executed through scheduled maintenance contracts for the 18 recreational parks as follows:

  • Eight (8) Parks in Brunei – Muara District, namely:

    1. Muara Beach Recreational Park with an area of 42 hectares;
    2. Tanjong Batu Recreational Park with an area of 5.5 hectares;
    3. Mahkota Jubli Emas Park with an area of 9.7 hectares;
    4. Riadah Park with an area of 29 hectares;
    5. Serasa Beach Recreational Park with an area of 23.7 hectares;
    6. Damuan Promenade Recreational Park with an area of 5.5 hectares;
    7. Kampung Parit Mini Celebration Recreational Park with an area of 35.3 hectares; and
    8. Menteri Besar Recreational Park with an area of 21 hectares
  • Three (3) Parks in Tutong District, namely:

    1. Pengkalan Pinang Beach Recreational Park with an area of 3 hectares;
    2. Seri Kenangan Beach Recreational Park with an area of 4.2 hectares;
    3. Sungai Basong Recreational Park with an area of 60.8 hectares.
  • Four (4) Parks in Belait District, namely:

    • Jubli Anduk Recreational Park with an area of 62.5 hectares;
    • Lumut Beach Recreational Park with an area of 3.6 hectares;
    • Sungai Mau Recreational Park with an area of 4.2 hectares; and
    • Wasai Kadir Recreational Park with an area of 17.1 hectares
  • Three (3) Parks in Temburong District, namely:

    • Batang Duri Recreational Park with an area of 27.9 hectares;
    • Muhibbah Recreational Park with an area of 0.9 hectares; and
    • Temburong Promenade Park with an area of 0.7 hectares
  • Insya Allah, the Ministry of Development remains committed to enhancing the function of these parks as inclusive, conducive, and resilient recreational spaces through comprehensive scheduled maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • This effort aims not only to improve the quality of life of the residents in this country but also to ensure that environmental sustainability is preserved for current and future generations.

  • Meanwhile, public markets are not under the jurisdiction of this ministry.
