YANG BERHORMAT MENTERI DI JABATAN PERDANA MENTERI DAN MENTERI KEWANGAN DAN EKONOMI II

ANSWER:

Thank you, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua.

Thank you for the inquiry from Your Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim regarding the job opportunities directly created by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) companies.

In this regard, referring to the data shared by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), as of July 2025, approximately 4,161 job opportunities have been created and occupied by local citizens and foreign residents, as a result of the entry of FDI companies in various sectors in Negara Brunei Darussalam. Of that number, nearly 2,000 positions (approximately 48 percent) have been filled by local citizens. FDI companies will continue to strive to train local citizens to take over positions currently held by foreign workers in the near future.

Thank you, Yang Berhormat Yang Di-Pertua.
