RAHMAN BIN HAJI IBRAHIM asks Yang Berhormat Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Kewangan dan Ekonomi II to state how many job opportunities have been created directly by these new FDI within that period, and what percentage of these jobs have been filled by locals? In the Budget Presentation over the past 2-3 years, several new FDI projects that are operating and will be operating have been shared.

Thank you for the question from Ahli Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd. Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim regarding job opportunities that have been created directly by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) companies.

In this matter, referring to data shared by the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), as of July 2025, approximately 4,161 job opportunities have been created and filled by locals and foreign citizens as a result of the entry of FDI companies in various sectors in Negara Brunei Darussalam. Of that total, nearly 2 thousand positions (approximately 48 per cent) have been filled by locals. The FDI companies will continue efforts to train locals to take over positions that are currently still held by foreign workers in the near future.
