QUESTION

Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Rosmawatty binti Haji Abdul Mumin

YANG BERHORMAT DAYANG HAJAH ROSMAWATTY BINTI HAJI ABDUL MUMIN asks YANG BERHORMAT Menteri Hal Ehwal Ugama to state how the Ministry utilises the role of daie in addressing social issues such as LGBT, children born out of wedlock and the neglect of the elderly through the "Street Dakwah" approach? To what extent has the Dakwah Academy 5.0 programme been effective in empowering daie to be closer to the community and sensitive to current issues?

ANSWER

Yang Berhormat Menteri Hal Ehwal Ugama

Alhamdulillah, the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Islamic Da'wah Centre is not alone in addressing these social issues, namely by collaborating with other parties such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Prisons Department, the Narcotics Control Bureau, the Aftercare Support System Association (AFSA), and the Drug Eradication Association (BASMIDA).

The implementation of programmes collaboratively through the Islamic Da'wah Centre together with relevant parties or agencies supports the Government's initiative through a Whole of Nation Approach to ensure that current social issues are also addressed through an appropriate spiritual approach targeting adults, youths and children through structured and well-planned programmes such as the Makarimul Insan Programme, Usrah Programme, Tazkirah, talks, Qalbun Salim Programme, GINIS Programme (Generation, Humanity, Nationalism, Intellectualism and Stability), SINAR Programme (Stability, Integrity, Nationalism, Accountability and Spirituality) and many others.

In addition, control and monitoring are also carried out through printed materials to ensure that the content of such materials complies with hukum syara' and is appropriate to the religious practices approach among the community in this country.

Regarding the Akademi Da'wah 5.0 Programme, it is one of the programmes under the Youth Religious Programme, Ministry of Religious Affairs through Youth Daie. It is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in responding to the aspirations of youths who are enthusiastic about deepening their religious knowledge and jointly playing a role in spreading Islamic dakwah among the community through suitable activities with the provision of specific guidance.

Through this Akademi Da'wah, participants are exposed to a series of studies, guidance and intensive training that strengthen religious knowledge, shape faith, refine morals and enhance dakwah skills suited to present needs. At the same time, participants are also provided guidance through a structured programme module covering six (06) main standards, namely: Understanding and memorisation of Selected Surahs, Understanding and memorisation of Hadith Arbain (40), Daily Tarbiyah Da'ie, Public Speaking Training, Leadership and teamwork, and Community Service Project.

Alhamdulillah, to date, this Akademi Da'wah programme has successfully achieved its objective of producing young preachers who can continue dakwah activities in line with the religious understanding and practices taught in religious schools as well as Islamic educational institutions and subsequently practised in daily life, family, society and the nation. In addition, the diversity of participants' backgrounds, among whom are those pursuing higher education in general fields, has provided added value to dakwah efforts in further expanding understanding related to Islam and directly fostering the appreciation of a religious way of life through religious practices that have become the foundation and guidance among Bruneian society.
