ANSWER

Yang Berhormat Menteri Kesihatan

A. Comprehensive and Data-Based Strategy

The Ministry of Health implements a comprehensive strategy focused on key risk factors and based on data through continuous monitoring and evaluation. This ensures that the strategies implemented have an impact and can be improved over time.

B. Early Prevention and Health Education Efforts

The Ministry strengthens early prevention efforts through health education from childhood and adolescence. Health programmes are implemented in schools, workplaces and communities so that healthy lifestyle practices can be developed and sustained throughout life. The delivery of health messages is tailored according to age group and uses a behavioural insights approach to influence behavioural change more effectively.

C. Policy Support and a Healthy Environment

Health promotion programmes are supported by policies and environments that facilitate healthy choices. These include the implementation of excise duties on sweetened and flavoured beverages, healthy eating guidelines in schools and workplaces, enforcement of the prohibition on the use of electronic cigarettes and smoking bans at certain locations, as well as the promotion of physical activity through physical activity guidelines and the BN on the Move initiative.

D. Early Detection and Intervention

The Ministry strengthens early detection and intervention through the Program Pemeriksaan Kesihatan Kebangsaan to identify risk factors and non-communicable diseases at an early stage. This enables treatment to be carried out more effectively and reduces complications and the long-term burden of treatment costs.

In conclusion, the Ministry of Health is committed to ensuring that health promotion efforts increase awareness, lead to behavioural change and sustainably reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases. This approach is implemented through whole-of-nation cooperation involving other Ministries, agencies, communities and individuals in cultivating a healthy lifestyle as a shared responsibility.
