YANG BERHORMAT PENGIRAN HAJI ISA BIN PENGIRAN HAJI ALIUDDIN requested the MENTERI DI JABATAN PERDANA MENTERI to state the position regarding the recognition of certificates from polytechnics or local institutions of higher learning by the Public Service Commission (SPA), particularly in relation to applications for positions in government departments.

In the recruitment process at the Public Service Commission Office, every application is assessed through a comprehensive review to ensure that applicants meet the requirements stipulated in the job advertisement and are in accordance with the service scheme applied for. The assessment takes into consideration academic qualifications recognised by the Government, work experience and the specific requirements of the position concerned.

Applicants possessing qualifications from government polytechnics or local institutions of higher learning do not require a letter of recognition. This requirement is only mandatory for applicants who obtain qualifications from local private institutions and institutions abroad. This recognition review is important to ensure that the applicants’ qualifications are appropriate to the service scheme of the position applied for, as well as to determine the salary rate in accordance with the regulations in force.

To determine the recognition and level of the qualifications, the Public Service Commission Office uses assessments from the Majlis Kebangsaan Pengiktirafan Kelulusan (MKPK), Ministry of Education, which is the sole accrediting body responsible for the assessment and recognition of qualifications recognised by the Government.
