What performance indicators are used to ensure that the outcomes are aligned with the country's security functions and image?

ANSWER

Yang Berhormat Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri

Maintenance and upgrading efforts for control posts throughout the country have been and are continuously carried out by the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Immigration and National Registration Department (JIPK), to ensure that the facilities at the country's entry points are always in good and safe condition, while reflecting an orderly and conducive national image. This includes term contracts for cleaning, grass cutting and repairs to building structures. One-off repair projects include the repair of roads within the control post areas, upgrading of toilet facilities and repairs to inspection counters to improve comfort and the smooth operation of the country's entry points.

The Immigration and National Registration Department has also been allocated funding under Projek Rancangan Kemajuan Negara Ke-12 (RKN 12) to implement Projek Penaiktarafan Pos-Pos Kawalan Imigresen, involving four main control posts, namely Pos Kawalan Imigresen Sungai Tujuh, Pos Kawalan Imigresen Sementara Labu, Pos Kawalan Imigresen Sementara Kuala Lurah and Kompleks Kawalan dan Pemeriksaan Ujung Jalan. Discussions with the Public Works Department to prepare the plans and drawings have been completed, and the projects are expected to be completed between 2028 and 2029.

For information, in designing this upgrading project, JIPK has also taken into consideration the requirements and feedback from the relevant agencies operating at the control posts through discussions and coordination meetings. These include enforcement agencies such as the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Internal Security Department, the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Royal Customs and Excise Department, to ensure that national security at the border entry points is always safeguarded.
