Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin​

YANG BERHORMAT AWANG HAJI SALLEH BOSTAMAN BIN HAJI ZAINAL ABIDIN asked the MINISTER OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS to state the action taken by the ministry against operators who have deliberately violated or been in non-compliance with the certification requirements, such as storing and selling prohibited materials on their premises.

I am pleased to state that, of course, KHEU views seriously any violation or non-compliance with the segregation requirements stipulated under the law. Such acts can even provoke anger, rather than merely causing regret over conduct that is disobedient and disrespectful of the public interest.

Accordingly, to ensure that the parties concerned respect the sensitivities of the majority of the population and people of this country who are Muslims, appropriate action against such violations includes:

  1. Suspending or cancelling the Halal Certificate and Halal Permit previously granted to the premises concerned.
  2. Increasing the frequency of inspections and monitoring.
  3. If the results of the inspections and monitoring reveal serious violations, including the storage or sale of materials, the halal certificate/permit will be cancelled in accordance with the provisions of the prevailing law.
  4. Enforcement and prosecution action. If found guilty, the operator may be subject to a fine, imprisonment, or both.
  5. The premises involved may also be required to implement corrective action, including the cleansing process and sertu in accordance with the methods prescribed by hukum syara'.
  6. Issuing a product recall directive by instructing the operator concerned to immediately withdraw the products from the market and dispose of them in accordance with the established procedures.
  7. In cases that do not involve serious violations, a Non-Compliance Notice will be issued and the operator will be required to implement corrective action within the stipulated period.
