RAHMAN BIN HAJI IBRAHIM asked the MENTERI HAL EHWAL DALAM NEGERI to state the number of applications received since the Long-Stay Initiative “Long-Term Pass (LTP)” was introduced, including the number approved under the investor category?

ANSWER

Yang Berhormat Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri

Since the Long-Term Pass (LTP) policy came into effect on 31 December 2024, the Immigration and National Registration Department, through the Long-Term Pass Secretariat, had received 19 applications under the Business Long-Term Pass category and 13 applications under the Professional Long-Term Pass category, as at 28 February 2026.

Of this total, one (1) application under the Long-Term Business Visit Pass category had been approved. The applicant was involved in business and investment activities that contributed to the economic development and progress of Negara Brunei Darussalam. Meanwhile, the other applications (18 applications) are still undergoing evaluation and awaiting the support of the relevant agencies.

Meanwhile, under the Long-Term Professional Visit Pass category, one (1) application had been approved. The other applications are still undergoing evaluation and awaiting feedback and support from the relevant technical agencies (competent agencies) regarding the need for the expertise applied for. There are also applications that cannot be considered because the profession applied for was found not to be in a category experiencing a shortage of expertise in the country, or because the applicants were not actively practising the profession.

To streamline the evaluation process, the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Special Committee for Considering Long-Term Pass Applications has been updated. Under this procedure, applications under the investor category will first be reviewed by the Foreign Direct Investment and Downstream Industry Steering Committee and the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, before being submitted for consideration by the Special Committee for Considering Long-Term Pass Applications.

For information, the committee had convened five (5) times as at 14 March 2026 to review the applications received. In terms of application statistics, under the Long-Term Business Visit Pass category, 176 forms had been distributed, of which 19 application forms were submitted to the LTP Secretariat. Meanwhile, under the Long-Term Professional Visit Pass category, 67 forms had been collected, of which 13 forms had been returned to the LTP Secretariat.

Under the Social Long-Term Pass (Visit) category for family-related applications, 1,372 applications had been approved as at 25 February 2026.
