YANG BERHORMAT DAYANG CHONG CHIN YEE requested MENTERI DI JABATAN PERDANA MENTERI to state whether the ministry has plans to enact legislation relating to intestate succession (Intestate Succession), particularly to provide certainty regarding the administration and distribution of the estates of non-Muslims, ensure fair distribution and reduce disputes among beneficiaries?

The Attorney General’s Chambers has currently examined an appropriate approach to address gaps in the regulations governing the distribution of estates for non-Muslims through the enactment of specific legislation on intestate succession.

For the information of Yang Berhormat, the drafting of the legislation is currently at the final stage and has also involved consultations with several stakeholders, as well as the receipt of feedback from the relevant Ministries and Government Departments.
