بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ور حمة الله وبر كاته

i. Kaola would first like to thank Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Suyoi bin Haji Osman for the question regarding the number of jobs that will be created with the 2025 budget, the sectors involved, and the concern about job acquisition.

ii. For Yang Berhormat Pehin's information, the main focal points of the allocation preparation for the 12th National Development Plan (RKN12) are as follows:

  • First, to support the socio-economic stability of the nation;

  • Second, to ensure the well-being of the citizens and residents of Negara Brunei Darussalam is maintained;

  • Third, to increase skills and create new job opportunities and economic activities; and

  • Fourth, to enhance the development of digital technology to improve productivity and efficiency of Government services.

iii. Investment in these RKN12 projects will stimulate economic growth and provide more job opportunities in new industries for local children, such as in aquaculture projects, agriculture, tourism, health, green jobs, and also through enabler projects like infrastructure construction projects for industry preparations such as roads, water and electricity supply, transportation, and in the fields of Infocommunications and digital reform.

iv. Besides the RKN12 projects, various efforts are continuously enhanced in creating job opportunities for local children. This includes prioritizing job creation in the private sector, such as through the entry and growth of foreign direct investments (FDIs), spin-offs from FDIs, and encouraging entrepreneurship.

v. The Prime Minister's Department through the Manpower Planning Office is implementing continuous manpower forecasting efforts from various Government and non-Government agencies. This effort estimates 5,000 job opportunities annually, which will be updated according to project status and current job filling.

vi. Meanwhile, it is shared that there are more than 4,000 vacant positions in the private sector currently actively advertised on the Brunei Job Centre Portal (JCB) as of 31 January 2025. Therefore, job seekers are encouraged to seize the available job opportunities at present. The available job opportunities are not only in various sectors such as accommodation and services, wholesale and retail, mining and quarrying, and others, but also offered at various qualification levels and skill stages.

vii. Insya Allah, the Government will continue to collaborate with industry parties and related agencies to further expand job opportunities in line with the development of the country's economic sectors.

That is all Kaola can convey. Thank you.
