Thank you to Yang Berhormat Dr. Awang Haji Mahali bin Haji Momin for the question regarding the Ministry's plan to develop the creative industry, particularly in leveraging the unique culture of the seven indigenous groups of Brunei.

Negara Brunei Darussalam has a unique culture and arts, centered on Malay Islamic Monarchy with values and a way of life that reflects Brunei's norms and cultural heritage. The indigenous groups of Brunei undeniably play an important role in socio-economic development, particularly through cultural tourism that highlights the uniqueness of customs, architecture, traditional clothing, food, and their performing arts. It is shared that data shows more than 231,000 visitors have visited galleries, libraries, and historical sites across the country, proving a high interest in Brunei's cultural heritage.
-
In efforts to leverage the unique culture of the seven indigenous groups of Brunei in line with the development of the creative industry, the Ministry has and will continue to implement traditional and cultural arts festivals and exhibitions. Meanwhile, the Center for Art and Handicraft Training also offers handcrafted products and actively increases product sales in the local and international markets through exhibitions and participation in international activities.
-
To ensure the cultural and creative industry grows sustainably in the country, the Ministry focuses on strategic initiatives such as providing financial assistance and facilities to more than 50 entrepreneurs and cultural arts practitioners to ensure the continuity of the cultural and creative industry. Additionally, strategic cooperation with ethnic groups, the Tourism Development Department, and District Departments is actively carried out in organizing 21 cultural programs that have attracted more than 6,000 participants.

As stated in previous remarks, the successful recognition of Kebaya's nomination as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage is a joint effort between various ethnic groups in the region, including Brunei. This initiative shows how cultural identity can be shared by various regional communities, as well as the importance of collaboration in elevating cultural heritage on a global scale.

With these ongoing efforts, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, and other relevant agencies through a whole-of-nation approach are confident that cultural preservation and tourism will continue to grow and contribute to the national economy, ensuring Brunei's cultural heritage remains relevant, competitive, and appreciated by future generations.
